The Gilliam Fellows Program supports second- and third-year PhD students and their faculty thesis advisors in biological and biomedical sciences, with PhD stipend support and a potential postdoctoral transition pathway.

Eligibility

Applicants must be second- or third-year PhD students in the biological and biomedical sciences.Applicants must be at eligible HHMI institutions across the United States.International PhD students and students in health-sciences dual-degree PhD programs, including MD-PhD programs, are eligible beginning with the September 2026 competition.PhD students apply as mentor-mentee pairs with their faculty thesis advisors.
