Harvard Summer School offers five- to eight-week summer study abroad programs led by Harvard faculty in locations across Europe, Africa, the Americas, and Asia.

Who Can Apply

To be eligible, applicants must:

• Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
• Applicants must have completed at least one year of college or be first-year students.
• Applicants must be in good academic standing.
• Students enrolled at any accredited university are welcome to apply.

Fields of Study

Foreign language and culture, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, climate science, ecology, archaeology, history, public art, cultural studies, social justice, political science, and regional studies.

Value

• Programs range from five to eight weeks and provide immersive academic experiences in international locations.
• The program fee includes tuition, accommodations, scheduled program activities, and some meals.
• A limited number of admitted and eligible Harvard College students may receive funding covering tuition plus a travel stipend.
• Students can study subjects within the cultural, historical, social, and geographic context of the host location.

Selection Criteria

Applicants are assessed on:

• Applicants must meet the minimum age and college-study requirements.
• Applicants must demonstrate good academic standing.
• Applications include a statement of interest and may require program-specific materials such as letters of recommendation or references.
• Harvard Summer School may remove an applicant from consideration or withdraw enrollment for health, safety, behavioral, reputational, or regulatory compliance concerns.

How to Apply

Applications for Summer 2027 open in early December 2026. Applicants may apply to one program and should use the application link provided on the webpage of their desired program.

Application Deadline

Applications for Summer 2027 must be received by January 28, 2027.
