The NPGH LEADERs Fellowship Program is a 12-month clinical research training fellowship sponsored by the NIH Fogarty International Center for eligible US and LMIC trainees in the health professions.

Who Can Apply

To be eligible, applicants must:

• US doctoral or advanced-degree students in the health professions, or applicants who completed such a degree within the previous five years.
• LMIC applicants who completed a doctoral or advanced professional degree within the previous five years.
• Citizens or permanent residents of the United States, Cameroon, Ghana, India, Kenya, Liberia, Nepal, Peru, Thailand, or Uganda.
• Applicants with a mentor at a participating US consortium institution and a mentor at an approved international partner site.
• Applicants able to dedicate 40 hours per week to research for 12 months at the international fellowship site.
• Applicants available to begin the fellowship in July 2023 and remain at the fellowship site with limited travel away from it.

Selection Criteria

Applicants are assessed on:

• A US institutional mentor familiar with the applicant’s work and aware of the Fogarty application.
• An approved international-site mentor who is aware of the application.
• Research conducted at an approved site in an eligible country.
• Availability for the full-time, 12-month fellowship period.
• Applicants may have only one application reviewed by a Fogarty Global Health Program for Fellows and Scholars consortium at a time.
