Ohio College Opportunity Grant (OCOG)

The Ohio College Opportunity Grant (OCOG) 2026–2027 is a need-based state financial aid program for Ohio residents pursuing eligible undergraduate degree or certificate programs at participating institutions. Eligibility is determined primarily through the FAFSA, household income, and the applicant’s Student Aid Index (SAI). For the 2026–27 academic year, students must complete the FAFSA by 1 October 2026 to be considered.

Who Can Apply
Applicants must generally:
- Be Ohio residents
- Demonstrate financial need
- Complete the FAFSA
- Attend an eligible participating institution
- Be enrolled in an eligible degree or qualifying educational program
The current OCOG eligibility information lists a maximum household income of $96,000.
Fields of Study
There is no single restricted field of study. Students may pursue eligible programs offered by participating institutions.
Grant Amount
The amount depends on:
- Type of institution
- Enrollment status
- Financial eligibility
For 2026–2027, eligible full-time students at many Ohio public university main campuses may receive up to $4,000 per year. Part-time awards are prorated.
Application Method
There is no separate standard OCOG application for most students.
Applicants apply by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The institution then determines OCOG eligibility based on FAFSA information and state rules.

Students must complete the 2026–2027 FAFSA by October 1, 2026 to be considered for OCOG.
