Who Can Apply

To be eligible, applicants must:

• Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus (democratic opposition), Ethiopia, Gabon, Mauritania, Zambia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Palestine, Guatemala, or Honduras.
• Applicants must not be enrolled at a university in the Czech Republic when submitting their application.
• Citizens of the Czech Republic, citizens of European Union countries, and other foreign nationals with permanent residence permits in the Czech Republic are not eligible.

Fields of Study

Follow-up master’s and doctoral degree programmes conducted in English at public higher education institutions in the Czech Republic.

Value

• 16,000 CZK for students in follow-up master’s degree programmes.
• 24,960 CZK for students in doctoral degree programmes.
• Tuition fees are paid by the Government of the Czech Republic on behalf of scholarship holders.
• The scholarship is intended to cover essential living and study costs. Scholarship holders may use student dormitories and canteens, with accommodation, meals and public transport paid from the scholarship under the applicable conditions.
• Health care is provided by the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic to the same extent as for Czech insured persons, subject to the programme guidelines.
• Travel expenses are not reimbursed.

Selection Criteria

Applicants are assessed on:

• Applicants must complete the online application by 30 September 2026.
• The application is considered complete and will be evaluated only after the applicant passes both the compulsory English language test and the general academic aptitude test.
• Successful applicants will begin their studies in the academic year 2027/2028.
• Scholarships are awarded for the standard duration of full-time studies.
• There is no legal entitlement to receive a scholarship.

Required Documents

• Passport or other travel document enabling international travel.
• Documents relating to completed and ongoing studies.
• Overview of study and research stays abroad during the last five years, including year, duration, location and purpose.
• Motivation letter of up to one A4 page for follow-up master’s studies or two A4 pages for doctoral studies.
• Academic CV focused on studies and employment.
• Application form for a scholarship from the Government of the Czech Republic.
• Declaration accepting the conditions for providing government scholarships.
• Declaration accepting the conditions for the provision of health services.
• Statutory declaration of return to the country of origin after completion of studies.
• Birth certificate.
• Medical certificate concerning the applicant’s health condition.
• Officially certified copy of a foreign diploma or equivalent document confirming completion of a study programme.
• Officially certified copy of the diploma supplement or transcript of completed subjects and examinations.
• Additional information confirming that the completed study programme was provided by an institution authorised to provide higher education.
• Additional information about the content of university studies abroad.
• Overview of publishing activities, where applicable.
• Outline of the professional issues on which the applicant intends to focus in a doctoral study programme, where applicable.
• Statement of the intended focus of the dissertation, where applicable.
• Up to two letters of recommendation from professors at academic institutions, where applicable.
• Additional proof of qualification improvement and previous professional or scientific activities, where applicable.

How to Apply

Complete the online application through the Czech Government scholarship application system by 30 September 2026. Applicants should prepare the required documents, create or use a personal email account, complete all application sections and upload the relevant attachments. After completing the application details, applicants must take the compulsory English language and general academic aptitude tests. The application is automatically forwarded for processing after both tests are completed.
