Who Can Apply
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Degree-seeking undergraduate Florida State University students
- Students accepted into an upper-division major at the time of application
- Students with a minimum 3.0 FSU GPA
- Students able to meet any Spanish comprehension or conversation requirements associated with their placement
Fields of Study
Biology; Computer Science, including webpages and technology; International Affairs; Social Work; United Nations affiliates; other fields may be considered in consultation with FSU Panama staff.
Value
- Internships may be part-time or full-time, depending on the placement.
- Internships are unpaid.
- Students earn internship or Directed Individual Study credit.
- Part-time interns also take one or more classes at FSU Panama.
- The program fee includes 12 academic credits, shared dorm-style housing, selected excursions and activities, some meals, international health insurance, on-site pastoral support, administrative and academic support, the visa application fee, and scheduled group airport pick-up.
- Most financial aid options may be applied toward the program fee, and payment deferment options are available.
Selection Criteria
Applicants are assessed on:
- Placement is subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.
- Specific placements may require particular skills or previous experience.
- Applicants participate in an interview with the company or organization offering the placement.
- If no placement is identified within 30 days of the program start, the student may switch to the broad curriculum program in Panama or receive a refund of program fees, excluding the application fee.

How to Apply
Applicants must first meet with an International Programs internship advisor through Zoom drop-in advising, a Campus Connect appointment, or by emailing IP-Intern@fsu.edu. After meeting with the advisor, applicants receive a link to apply. Once the application is completed and the application fee is processed, applicants receive access to the IP portal to submit the required documents.
Application Deadline
The Spring 2027 application deadline of 19 August 2026 has passed. The next listed cycle is Spring 2028, with applications opening on 7 April 2027 and the program application deadline on 11 August 2027.
